The Marana Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Meth Free Alliance, Fraternal Order of Police, Optimist Club, Northwest Fire District and Pima County Wastewater, is hosting a Dispose-A-Med event Dec. 15. The events are at Target on the corner of Ina and Thornydale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents are invited to bring unused and expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to be properly disposed. Please, no inhalers or syringes/needles.

Attendees also will be able to shred unwanted paper materials or documents,

such as receipts, billing statements and anything containing personal information. The first two boxes, per person are free. There is no need to remove staples or paper clips.

Additional boxes will be shredded for $5 apiece plus a donation of two canned goods or non-perishable items per box to benefit the Marana Community Food Bank.

Student pharmacists from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, will be available to answer questions.
