Modern Mata Ortiz Pottery to host lecture
On Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Oro Valley Public Library,
The Prehistoric Heritage of Modern Mata Ortiz Pottery will be presented by John Bezy & Stuart Scott
, and sponsored by the Oro Valley Historical Society.
This lecture will give you a chance to learn more about the history and understand how unique these ceramics are.
Paquimé, Chihuahua, Mexico is one of the most important archaeological sites in northern Mexico. Ancient pottery from this site was the inspiration for modern Mata Ortiz ceramics.
Stuart Scott was involved in the excavation of Paquimé during the late 1950s. He will present the archaeology of this famous World Heritage Site. John Bezy, who has worked with the potters of Mata Ortiz for nearly 30 years, will discuss the evolution of this world-class pottery and present the work of many of the young artists from this village.

Authentic German Dinner
The American Legion Oro Valley Post 132 will be hosting an authentic German dinner.
Proceeds will be used for assisting veterans and their families in need.
