Northwest Firefighters were called to a home under construction in the area of Camino De Oeste and Tangerine Roads just after 3 p.m. when several neighbors and construction crews noted fire erupting from the roof area. The incident address was 12260 N. Sunrise Shadow Dr.

This home was in the final stages of construction and the buyer of the home was due to move in the week of Christmas. The buyer and builder of the home were both notified of the fire and arrived on the scene after the fire was brought under control.

The fire began in the attic space and damaged the roof as well as the interior of the home. The home had upgraded insulation in the ceiling and walls which made reaching the attic space challenging for firefighters. No one lived in the home at the time and no injuries were reported. There were no personal possessions lost in the fire.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be accidental as a result of an electrical malfunction. Damages were estimated to be approximately $30,000.

An engine from Northwest Fire’s Tangerine and Thornydale station, along with an engine from the Dove Mountain area arrived within 7 minutes and were assisted by the remainder of the 1st alarm assignment in bringing the fire under control within 19 minutes. A total of 22 firefighters were at the scene.
