Tucson Police searching for armed robbery suspects

Two suspects are wanted by the Tucson Police Department for armed robbery that resulted in serious injuries to a female victim.

On Oct. 14, at 8 p.m., officers from the Operations Division West responded to a report of a man with a gun attempting to steal a purse from a female in the parking lot of the Walmart located at 455 E. Wetmore Rd.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering serious injuries in the parking lot. She was transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Night Detectives responded to continue the investigation, collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses at the scene.

They determined that the female victim was walking into Walmart when the suspect approached her from behind and began hitting her in the head with a handgun while attempting to gain control of her purse.

A citizen physically intervened and the suspect pointed the gun toward him. The suspect then took the victim’s purse, and got into the passenger seat of a vehicle that had pulled up to the front of the store.

The female victim confronted the driver of the vehicle and was consequently drug for several hundred feet through the parking lot. She fell from the vehicle and was seriously injured.

The suspect with the handgun was described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’6” tall, weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a white t-shirt with an unknown emblem on the front and very baggy shorts with dark stripes on the sides.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a Hispanic male, thin build, wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.

The suspect vehicle was described as a silver Chevrolet Impala with chrome wheels and a sunroof.

Surveillance photographs are included.
