On Saturday morning around 9:10 a.m., the Golder Ranch Fire District Units responded to Catalina State Park to assist with an injured hiker at Romero Pools.
Golder Ranch personnel along with PCSO and DPS ranger received reports of a female patient in her twenties that had suffered an injury while diving into the pools. Due to the location of the patient, the decision was made to utilize DPS Ranger helicopter to remove the patient from the scene. The patient was then flown to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Golder Ranch Fire District wants to remind people that when they are outside in the heat to make sure that they are hydrating properly. It is important to drink plenty of fluids, and also make sure that you are applying sunscreen to themselves as well as other family members. If you are going to be out enjoying the state parks that you let people know where you are going to be and approximately when you will be back.
Items that you should bring include a cell phone, sun screen protection, hats, and extra water for the trip. Golder Ranch also wants to advise you that if you are going to be around water that you always watch the children in the area, and follow all of the rules of the park. It is always the best practice to avoid diving into water in which you are unsure of the depth.
