 The Marana Unified School District announces the selection of Denise Coronado as principal at MCAT High School.

During their regularly scheduled meeting held on Thursday, April 11, 2013, the Marana Unified School District Governing Board voted 4-0 to hire Denise Coronado as principal at MCAT High School. Ms. Coronado will assume the position effective July 1, 2013 following the retirement of Lynne Prouty. Ms. Prouty has served as principal at MCAT since the 2006-2007 school year.

Denise Coronado has thirteen years of experience including teaching and school administration within the Marana Unified School District. Ms. Coronado is currently the associate principal at Mountain View High School in the Marana district. Prior to joining Mountain View in 2010, she served as the associate principal at Picture Rocks Intermediate and Desert Winds Elementary. In addition, she has experience as a special education teacher at Marana High School. Her experience in 2010 as an “Aspiring Principal” with the Rodel Foundation of Arizona also provided her extensive professional development opportunities interning alongside Exemplary Principals at multiple schools across the state of Arizona.

Denise Coronado has extensive experience leading, planning, goal setting and implementing plans to guide students and schools to higher levels of achievement. She possesses a strong knowledge of school leadership, curriculum, instruction, and assessment. In addition, she has overseen multiple programs including promoting positive behavior and intervention supports, staff development and mentoring, discipline, grant management, special education and counseling. She is committed to building relationships with students and families in order to promote strong partnerships that support student success.

Ms. Coronado possesses a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Arizona and a Master of Arts in Education, Administration & Supervision from University of Phoenix.
