In an effort to recognize some of the community’s outstanding  youth, the Oro Valley Town Council recently recognized Copper Creek fourth grader Michael Chen.

Chen won the Amphitheater School District Spelling Bee, and placed 14th at the State Bee last month.

Chen is an avid reader and gifted pianist.  He takes his studies very seriously.   I really like the comments from the second teacher, who says Michael  always helps his peers.

“Michael is a wonderful boy who is outstanding in all academic areas,” said Chen’s teacher Lori Demirjian. “He not only won the Copper Creek Spelling Bee this year but the District, second place in the county spelling bee and came in 14th in the state spelling bee.  He is highly gifted and excels in math as well studying material at the sixth-grade level. He should be very proud of himself for all of his accomplishments as I truly am.”
