By the end of this year, the Town of Oro Valley will have added another hi-tech business to Innovation Park.

Securaplane Technologies, a world leader in the supply of avionics equipment for business, commercial, and military aircraft, will move from its current location at the Town’s Foothills Business Park into a newly-constructed facility in Innovation Park sometime in December of this year.

Vince Bartuccio, Continuous Improvement Leader with Securaplane, said the relocation has become increasingly necessary.

“We’re expanding our business and we needed some more space, which Innovation Park will provide,” he said.

The new facility will be a 55,000-square-foot manufacturing and office building.

“This is an exciting time for us,” said Securaplane President Shubhayu Chakraborty. “The aviation industry is witnessing a period of prolonged, favorable growth, with Securaplane beating industry trends. We are delighted to be able to accommodate this expansion within Oro Valley’s Innovation Park – a beautiful setting that will help us to continue to recruit and retain top talent.”

Securaplane will be the first to undergo the Town’s Economic Expansion Zone (EEZ) process after council approved the item in October with the goal of attracting and retaining businesses by streamlining the required processes and thereby reducing the amount of time it takes a business to open its doors, as long as the proposed project meets the town’s existing zoning and development standards.

Steps eliminated from the typical permitting process include a neighborhood meeting, review by the Conceptual Design and Review Board, and council review. The EEZ applies only to businesses coming to Innovation Park, and is expected to shave about three months off the process.

“Oro Valley has been a very business-friendly community,” said Bartuccio. “The town has been very helpful in moving the process along, and we are looking forward to being in Innovation Park.”

Securaplane will join such businesses as Sanofi and the Roche Group’s Ventana Medical Systems.

“Securaplane is a welcome addition to Innovation Park, which is fast-becoming a hub for bioscience and hi-tech industries,” said Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath.

The existing location at the Foothills Business Park was chosen based on an analysis of employee drive time, which is not expected to change much given the proximity of Innovation Park.

Securaplane, an operating subsidiary of Meggitt PLC, is headquartered in the United Kingdom, operating in North America, Europe, and Asia.
