Tucson Water will host the final two town halls to present three options for proposed fiscal year 2014 water rates and fees. The options have been recommended by the Citizens Water Advisory Committee (CWAC).

The proposed rate changes reflect an estimated increase from $2.91 to $3.68 in the monthly water bill for the average residential customer in a single family home. Nearly 90% of Tucson Water customers are residential accounts.

The town halls start at 5:30 p.m. The presentation on rates, fees and options begins at 5:45 p.m. City staff and CWAC members will be available for questions.

● Tuesday, May 14 - Randolph Regional Center Mesquite Room, 200 S.

Alvernon Way

● Wednesday, May 15 - William M. Clements Recreation Center, 8155

E. Poinciana Dr.

“These town halls provide an opportunity for our customers to learn about the financial operations of our utility,” said Alan Forrest, Tucson Water Director. “Customers also provide input that Mayor and Council may consider in making their decision.”

CWAC annually reviews the revenue requirements of the water system and review Tucson Water budget proposals in order to develop rate and fee recommendations. Its members are appointed by the Mayor and Council and the City Manager’s Office.

A public hearing is scheduled during the Tuesday, May 21, Mayor and Council meeting. Following the hearing, Mayor and Council are expected to vote on adopting a new water rate schedule.

More information, including the rates presentation and proposed and current rate schedules, is post on Tucson Water’s website at or available by calling (520) 791-4331.
