The Pima County Sheriff’s Department discovered a body of a 50-year-old homeless man in the Foothills District Wednesday morning.

The body was discovered around 8 a.m. in the desert area west of Albertson’s Grocery Store located at River Road and La Canada.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded to investigate.

According to sheriff’s spokeswoman Dawn Barkman, detectives believe the death appears to be medical in nature.

However, exposure may also be a factor in the death. The autopsy is scheduled for this week.
