Northwest Fire crews responded to I-10 and Avra Valley Road at 2:49 p.m. Sunday after reports of a vehicle rollover.

Several calls indicated that a SUV had rolled several times into the median just west of the Avra Valley exits.  When crews arrived, they found a 56 year-old male patient who had suffered only minor injuries after rolling his SUV several times.

The driver was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.  The driver was transported to the trauma center at the University of Arizona Medical Center’s main campus.

This is the third vehicle rollover within the last week that Northwest Fire units have responded to in which all drivers and occupants have been properly restrained with seatbelts.  All occupants suffered minor to serious injuries but are all expected to survive the incidents.  There were no other vehicles involved and the Arizona Department of Public Safety was at the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.

Northwest Fire District would like to remind all drivers to ensure that everyone within the vehicle is properly restrained at all times when a vehicle is in motion.  Seatbelts save lives!
