On Friday around 2:41 a.m., officers from Operations Division Midtown responded to the 1600 block of North Alvernon in reference to an unknown trouble call. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the parking lot of a private business, suffering from obvious signs of trauma.

The Tucson Fire Department medical personnel transported him to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Aggravated Assault Unit and the Traffic Investigation Unit responded to continue the investigation. They examined evidence and spoke to potential witnesses in the area. Initial information given indicated that the victim was the passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound on Alvernon Way. A vehicle traveling directly behind the victims vehicle began flashing its lights and honking its horn. The victim’s vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a private business and the vehicle behind them followed them into the lot. The passenger exited the victim's vehicle to speak with the occupant of the suspect vehicle at which time the suspect vehicle ran over the victim and fled the scene northbound.

The suspect vehicle is described as a mid 1990s Chevy Blazer, orange in color, with visible front-end damage. The driver is described as a Hispanic male.

Anyone with information on this vehicle and/or the driver is encouraged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
