Event coordinators were pleased with the turnout for the Wounded Warrior Project benefit held at the Picture Rocks Fire Station on Aug. 20. The event was coordinated by Marcia Hay and raised an estimated $4,200.

Hay got involved in the Wounded Warrior Project after her brother was injured in Afghanistan. Sgt. “Mac” McCulloch was injured when the vehicle he was riding in was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

After hearing stories about the injuries her brother, and other members of his unit suffered, Hay wanted to get involved.

To raise money locally, Hay hosted the Aug. 20 event that featured fun, food and entertainment.
