Top community college leader to speak at PCC

The leader of a group representing the U.S.’ more than 1,100 community colleges will come to Pima Community College March 7 to discuss how community colleges are responding to the challenge of restoring economic vitality to the nation’s middle class.

Dr. Walter Bumphus, president and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges, whose member institutions educate 13.3 million students nationwide, will offer his insights at PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway, Room C105 on Friday, March 7 from 2-3 p.m.

“Dr. Bumphus is one of our country’s most well-respected voices in higher education,” PCC Chancellor Lee D. Lambert said. “He has a profound grasp of the critical role community colleges must play to keep the U.S. economically competitive.”

The AACC is implementing the 21st Century Initiative, which emphasizes innovation to increase students’ educational attainment and help many of them gain entry to the middle class.

The presentation will be shown live at sites throughout the College. The public is welcome to attend Dr. Bumphus’ presentation or view the live video, but seating is limited:
