Copper Creek Elementary School held its annual fundraiser, the Hawk Walk, last week.
Funds from the event, which go directly to the school’s PTO, have been used to purchase electronics and equipment for the school. Funds from this year and the past few years have been saved to go toward new playground equipment, which will be installed mid-September.
For two weeks, students collected money for donations and to mark the end of the fundraiser, students walk around the school as parents squirt them with water and Silly String.
The event culminated with the Messy Zone. As the entire student body sat in a large huddle, cooling off with Otter Pops, a group of selected students who raised the most money and who were picked from a raffle, got to make an ice cream sundae out of their principal, Diana Walker, and School Resource Officer, Ed Holdinsky using chocolate sauce, whip cream, strawberry sauce, ketchup and sprinkles.
