The first round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship concluded today with an assortment of great rounds of golf and upsets across the board.

First on the tee boxes and the first major upset of the day was between third-seeded and 2010 Accenture champion Ian Poulter and 14th-seeded Rickie Fowler. Fowler defeated Poulter 2 and 1 and will face six-seed Jimmy Walker tomorrow.

Also knocking out a former Accenture champion, Matteo Manassero finished off Luke Donald in 14 holes, finishing 5 and 4.

Continuing with the upset pattern, 16-seeded Richard Sterne dominated over Zach Johnson, finishing up their match in 14 holes, finishing 5 and 4.

Peter Hanson upset Dustin Johnson 4 and 3, and Steve Stricker lost to George Coetzee, finishing 3 and 1.
