Find out about Pima County’s future Esmond Station Regional Park and contribute your ideas about community needs and preferences for the park at two events in March.

County staff will be sharing information and gathering ideas for the development of the Esmond Station Regional Park Master Plan:

  • From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at the Esmond Station Railroad Festival at Esmond Station School, 9400 S. Atterbury Wash Way.
  • At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at Clements Center, 8155 E. Poinciana Drive.

A community input questionnaire is attached. It can be printed, filled out and faxed to (520) 297-9545 or filled out electronically and emailed to

The Esmond Station Regional Park site consists of 274 acres of undeveloped land east of Houghton Road and north of Mary Ann Cleveland Road. Portions of the site are adjacent to the Empire High School campus. The property was purchased by Pima County using 2004 bond funds for the purpose of creating a regional park serving the residents of Pima County. (The park was referred to in the 2004 bond program as the Southeast Community Park.)

The master planning process recently started and studies related to the biological, cultural, and physical resources of the site are under way. Preliminary designs for the park will begin after these studies have been completed and after the community has been given an opportunity to provide input regarding the facilities that may be constructed at the park. It is the County’s intent to create a park that respects the rich history of the area while also addressing the recreational needs of the community.
