The Oro Valley Police Department is pleased to announce that the School Resource Officers (SRO) Unit was chosen as a model SRO agency by the Arizona School Resource Officers Association (ASROA). OVPD Police Chief Daniel G. Sharp will be attending a conference on June 18, 2013 in Scottsdale to receive this recognition.

Mayor Satish Hiremath commented, "As a 23-year resident of Oro Valley, I see this recognition as confirmation of what we've known for a very long time; Oro Valley's public safety is second to none; it is part of who and what we are as a community."

Patrick Nelson, superintendent for the Amphitheater School District, said “Children are our most precious resource. We are grateful for the Oro Valley Police Department’s commitment to our students’ well-being and safety. We value our partnership with The Oro Valley Police Department, and appreciate the value of school resource officers in our schools.”
