Northwest Fire crews responded to River Road at San Joaquin Ave. after a reported two car accident. A 4-door sedan and a passenger pick-up collided causing the pick-up truck to overturn according to Northwest Fire Captain Adam Goldberg.

A 55 year-old driver and 2 small children were in the pick-up when it rolled.

A 3 year-old and 9 year-old were both in appropriate for age safety restrain seats which allowed both girls to suffer only minor injuries. All three were taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.

A female driver and her 9 year-old daughter were in the car that was involved, they both had minor injuries and were treated at the scene and released. They too were properly restrained in seat belts.

River Road from La Cholla Road westbound was closed to allow for emergency personnel to assess, treat and transport the injured. River was opened with one lane after all the patients were on their way to the hospital.

Pima County Sheriffs Department was on the scene to conduct the investigation into the incident.

Northwest Fire reminds everyone that seat belts save lives and reduce injuries in the event of a crash. Always were seat belts. Always keep children properly restrained.
