The Pima County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad unit is investigating a suspicious package at the Northwest Fire Station on Ina Road.

Adam Goldberg, spokesman for the fire district, said just before noon a female came to the station and showed fire crews a black plastic bag that was sitting in the back seat of her car.

The female explained that the bag just appeared overnight, saying it is not her bag, it was not in her car when she went to bed last night and it just appeared mysteriously this morning.

Goldberg said the fire station is not equipped to deal with such a call, and since it is being treated as a suspicious package, the case has been turned over to the Pima County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad unit for further investigation.

In the meantime, Goldberg said the fire station is open for business.
