Late Tuesday night, Ina road was closed at the railroad tracks for a few hours after a car was struck by a train.

The elderly couple involved were not injured as they had left the car prior to the train making contact according to Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire District

The time frame in which they elderly couple were away from the car before the train struck the car is unknown.

Marana Police and Northwest Fire District responded to the incident and no injuries or derailments were reported by UPRR.
