Newly-opened Tucson RV Storage sits on a 17 acre parcel in unincorporated Pima County and is believed to be the second largest recreational vehicle (RV) storage facility in Arizona, according to its owner.

Nick Sheldon bought the property and buildings earlier in the fall and did a soft opening of the business on Oct. 21. Tucson RV Storage, located at 5450 N. Camino de la Tierra, plans to have a ribbon cutting opening ceremony with the Marana Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Nov. 21, he said.

“There’s a solid block perimeter wall around the entire acreage,” Sheldon pointed out. “It’s topped with razor wire. We also are installing security cameras and a digital access gated mechanism to make the facility as secure as possible.”

Besides the RV and other large vehicle parking area, Tucson RV Storage has a 2,000 square foot warehouse and office buildings of 1,200 square feet, 800 square feet, and 500 square feet. Sheldon said he uses the 1,200 square foot building at the entry gate as Tucson RV’s headquarters, and leases out the warehouse and the 500 square foot office space. The 800 square foot building is available for lease, he said.

Sheldon brings experience to his ownership of Tucson RV Storage, having grown up in the storage business that was run by his parents for more than 20 years.

“When I got out of high school, I wanted to get into self-storage and got into Arizona Self Storage on the Northwest side,” Sheldon said. “From there I went to their facility in Litchfield Park (near Phoenix) and ran that place for two years. Then I returned to Tucson, running Northwest RV and Self Storage for about a year before starting up Tucson RV Storage.”

Sheldon said that he currently has four main objectives to accomplish in running Tucson RV Storage.

“Customer service is my number one objective, followed by keeping weeds out of the facility, keeping the pack rats out, and keeping the facility secure for our customers.”

At some point in the future, as the business grows, Sheldon said he intends on adding mobile detailing services, mechanic services and propane sales.
