On Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, just after 3 p.m., Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to Oro Valley Bicycle located at 4749 E. Sunrise Drive for a report of a theft. Deputies learned a man came into the store and test rode a few bikes before leaving. The same man returned approximately an hour later, selected a gray Santa Cruz Hightower LT mountain bike (worth nearly $4,000) near the front door and walked out without paying.

Community Problems Unit detectives have taken over the investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in this case. Detectives believe the same suspect is responsible for another bicycle theft in Oro Valley.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian, in his 40s to 50s
  • Balding reddish/gray hair and a goatee
  • Approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with a medium build
  • Last seen wearing a blue and white button down shirt, blue jeans, and sandals
