“At last, my love has come along My lonely days are over And life is like a song Oh, yeah, at last”
Etta James’ lyrics and the Fox Tucson Theatre have a lot in common. This meticulously restored jewel of a theatre in the heart of downtown Tucson is “at last” reveling in an event season worthy of its lineage. Originally, a pristine 1930’s Vaudeville Stage & Movie Palace, the Fox fell into disrepair and closed as a result of neglect. In the late 1990’s individual and community efforts began, to restore
the building to its original Southwestern Art Deco grandeur. Special attention was focused on integrating the space with state-of- the-art acoustic and visual technology that would support and attract high quality shows. In 2006, the dream of re-opening this downtown performance anchor was realized. Since that grand re-opening, the Fox Tucson Theatre has been steadfastly defining its role as the premier downtown performance venue. Today, the Fox Fall 2013 Season encapsulates all the visionary wishes
and dreams of years of Fox supporters. The varied list of musical, comedic, and dance genre entertainment is poised to please Tucson’s richly diverse community.
The Fox Tucson Theatre Foundation’s main fundraising event, Chasing Rainbows Gala (Nov. 3) will feature multiple Grammy and Country Music Association Award winner Vince Gill. A singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Gill enjoys considerable commercial appeal in the contemporary country music genre while staying
true to all that is good about traditional country music.
In addition to securing Gill for the signature fundraising event, the Fox has confirmed a number of other shows ranging from comedy, to country to world music, and more. Fox Exec. Director, Craig Sumberg shared, “This is just the beginning-these are the confirmed shows- we continue to negotiate deals for world class entertainers for the coming 2013-2014 season. The artists love performing in our theatre and truly enjoy
visiting Tucson. We are all looking forward to a busy, productive and exciting year at the Fox!”
Oh, yeah, at last, Fox Tucson Theatre’s rich entertainment tradition is back.
