The Southern Arizona Kart Club, Inc. DBA Musselman Honda Circuit is open to the public as a non-profit recreational and educational driver/rider facility. Musselman Honda Circuit serves as a replica of the world-famous Suzuka South Kart Circuit in Suzuka, Japan, which is known by professional kart racers to be one of the best kart racing circuits in the world.
Musselman Honda Circuit is the brainchild of a local road racing enthusiast who realized he would never have a chance to race or even sit in an F1 car. The plan, determination, and the help from family, friends, and Pima County have all made the track possible.
Musselman Honda Circuit continues to work to make the local facility the road racing capital of the Southwest.
In 2012, the group started on major track improvements by adding individual storage facilities, rental units, added new buildings to be used for racing simulators, and added a pro-shop and office. Most recently, they began braking ground on new track extensions and a skid pad for driver/rider training.
There are plenty of plans in 2013 to continue the expansion projects that started in 2012. By the spring of 2013, the Kart Club will have the new track paved and additional office and service buildings available for group and public events.
Competition is coming quickly in the New Year, as the Kart Club will be hosting the Rotax Challenge of the Americas, a Western Hemisphere International Championship, on January 11th, 12th and 13th, 2013. For more information on this event, visit the website at www.rotaxchallenge.com.
One of the principal purposes of the Southern Arizona Kart Club (SAKC) is to encourage the development of exemplary drivers, riders and citizens by exposing them firsthand to innovative driver and rider education programs. The lack of vocational training opportunities in the schools has created a real and demonstrable shortcoming in the quality of drivers in the area. They believe that the driver/rider experience based on safety for the youth will positively impact the high percentage of highway and trail-based accidents that are being experienced.
Musselman Honda Circuit is continuing the efforts towards building an educational and recreational facility that is operated in a fun-yet safe-manner, and works to promote awareness in the environment and sustainability at their world-class facility.
SAKC is also community oriented, hosting the annual University of Arizona Karting Camp and Laps for Life which raises funds for cancer research Diamond Children’s Center.
As a successful year comes to a close, SAKC would like to thank its members, customers, Pima County, and employees for making 2012 such a great year, and enabling them to continue to expand the facilities in order to accommodate even more events, groups, and activities.
From birthday parties, company parties, to the competitor, SAKC has it all. To learn more about the track, visit the website at www.mhcircuit.com, or call 245-5278.
Musselman Honda Circuit is located at 11800 South Harrison Rd.
