Beach party

The Downtown Tucson Partnership hosts an end-of-summer bash at downtown's faux sandy beach, located in the empty lot at 5th Avenue and Toole Avenue. The Summer Beach Party will feature volleyball games, carnival games, a sand castle competition, and a children's obstacle course. Beer and wine will be served and live music will be played at 7pm by Jan Cervelli's band, Skyline. Later in the evening, Shrimp Chaperone and Surf Sonics will rock the party with live performances.

Here's a rundown of the action Saturday:

Bands - Skyline, 7 p.m.-8:15 p.m.; Shrimp Chaperone, 8:45 p.m.-10:45 p.m.; Surf Sonics, 11 p.m.-1 a.m.

Food Trucks - DC Jumbie Latin Caribbean, Bam Bam Mexican Asian Fusion, Sonoran Mexican Cuisine Sonoran Hotdogs

Drinks - Beer and wine, 5 p.m.-1 a.m.

Fun for Kids - 10 carnival games, YMCA Booth, Playformance, obstacle course, Tucson Children's Museum, big blue blocks (interactive fun)
