Arizona Outdoor Women, a group started to give women 18 and older the opportunity to learn camping, whitewater rafting, off-road driving and other outdoor activities in a relaxed atmosphere, has slots available in one-day and weekend workshops planned for summer and fall.

Among the offerings are a basic handgun clinic (June 15), scuba diving (June 23), beginning and intermediate archery clinics (July 13), and mountain biking (July 20). There’s also a “Ropes Challenge” (July 27), overnight horseback trip (Aug. 3-4), edible plants clinic (Aug. 10), fly fishing clinic (Oct. 19) and advanced rappelling session (Nov. 2). An ATV trip near Sedona and a hiking and kayaking expedition at the Colorado River are in the works.

Fees range from $30 to $600 and typically include instruction, equipment and meals or snacks.
