The winner of season three of The Voice, Cassadee Pope has quickly made a name for herself in the country music industry, as marked by her platinum-selling success in “Wasting All These Tears.” Now, she’s continuing to ride wave that brought her to success as she gears up to take part in her first-ever Country Thunder music festival from April 10-13 in Florence.

The Explorer caught up with her by phone to see how she’s feeling about it.

Explorer: “You’re attending Country Thunder for the first time. Are you excited?”

Cassadee: “Of course I’m excited. I heard about it a while ago, and I’m a fan of everyone else that plays there. I’ve heard it’s hot there, but I’m a Florida girl, so I can handle it. Most of all, I heard the crowd is insane, which is the best part when you’re gonna play a show.”

E: “What should fans expect to see from you on stage?”

C: “The thing I like about playing live is having people get to know me a little better, so they’ll definitely see more of my personality come out. On The Voice, you know, I sang a song a week, and that’s how people voted for me – they heard me sing. It wasn’t really about a personal thing, and I hope people get to see my live show and leave there knowing me better.”

E: “Have you found that people are beginning to know all the words to your songs and sing along?”

C: “I have, and that’s really exciting. I’ve started playing more shows this year where I’m headlining, and it’s really fun to see people singing along and connecting with the music."

E: “How did it feel to have “Wasting All These Tears” go platinum?"

C: “It feels crazy that so many people connected. I have so many stories from the fans about how this song has helped them through a breakup, or to get over somebody, and that’s what it’s all about. It’s about the lyrics. It’s about the emotion behind the lyrics, and I’m just really happy that the song helps people out the way it has.”

E: “When you heard your music on the radio the first time, what was your reaction?”

C: “I was actually in Arizona. I was in Phoenix, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. I was actually able to capture it while on the CMT Docu-Series, and that showed the moment I heard the song play on the radio for the first time. It’s one of those things you can’t explain. You’re just overwhelmed with emotions. You’re excited, you’re nervous, and more than anything, you’re just taken back and it’s almost like a dream coming true. It doesn’t feel real. It was a big, big moment for me."
