The smell of spring is in the air, which means it’s time to bring the whole family to the inaugural Main Gate Fine Art Festival in the historic Main Gate Square shopping district. This year’s art extravaganza will showcase around 30 artists from across the region along with food, music and fun on Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to see some of the masters at work with interactive art demos and hear them talk about their creations at educational booth chats. It’s an opportunity to see one-of-a-kind examples of a wide variety of media: paintings, sculpture, glass, photography, drawings, jewelry, fiber, wood, ceramics, mixed media, and furniture in this exhibit.

This year’s festival, which is sponsored by Bowman Productions, one of the region’s leading art festival production companies, which will also features a number of emerging youth artists who are presenting their works to the public for the first time.

In addition to the art, festival-goers will enjoy the live music of flautist and sax player Vibhas Kendzhia, as well as acoustic performer and painter Mark Garris.

The festival also offers fun art activities for kids, including a public participation mural and crafts provided by Ben’s Bells.

For festival foodies, Main Gate Square is home to many restaurants, cafés and coffee shops that can only be found in Tucson.

Admission and parking are free, and with art prices starting at $10, the festival promises something for everyone.
