In theaters this week:

“Marvel’s The Avengers”

While several movies are opening this weekend, the main attraction will likely be “Marvel’s The Avengers,” which is already receiving good reviews going into opening weekend. The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

How can you go wrong with the great Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johanson? This is definitely a must see this weekend.

The movie runs 2 hours, 22 minutes, and is rated PG-13.

If you’re not in the mood for long lines, and packed theaters, you might consider another movie opening this weekend.

“The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel follows a group of British retirees who decide to "outsource" their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India. Enticed by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and bolstered with visions of a life of leisure, they arrive to find the palace a shell of its former self. Though the new environment is less luxurious than imagined, they are forever transformed by their shared experiences, discovering that life and love can begin again when you let go of the past.

The drama, comedy stars Tom Wilkinson, Judi Dench, Dev Patel, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Celia Imrie.

The movie runs 2 hours, 3 minutes with a PG-13 rating.

While not getting the attention “The Avengers” is getting, this movie is receiving high praise from critics, standing at 75 percent just before opening.

“Mother’s Day”

From the maker of Saw II, III and IV, Mother's Day is a graphic remake of the Troma horror classic, Mother's Day. After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers go home to hideout...only to discover that their Mother (Rebecca De Mornay) lost their house in a foreclosure. The new owners and their party guests become the depraved brothers' unwitting hostages. Their sadistic Mother soon arrives and brilliantly takes control of the situation, ratcheting up the terror. As the hostages struggle desperately to survive the harrowing torture, they realize that there is nothing a Mother won't do to protect her children.

The horror flick has received a 49 percent from critics, and stars Jaime King, Rebecca De Mornay, Deborah Ann Woll, Patrick Flueger, Warren Kole and Matt O’Leary.

The movie runs 1 hour, 52 minutes and is rated R.
