On Saturday, Pima Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society hosts its final Market on the Move event of 2013.
On Saturday, Dec. 7, PCC’s Desert Vista Campus hosts Market On the Move from 8-11 a.m. During that time, people can show up in Desert Vista’s North Parking Lot, donate $10 and receive as much as 60 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. Those buying the produce are urged to use what they need and share with friends and neighbors.
A portion of the donations collected Saturday will go to PTK, which recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students.
PTK teams with The 3000 Club to encourage residents eat more fresh produce, share with their communities and support academic excellence. The allotments come from an 18,000-pound delivery from The 3000 Club, a Phoenix nonprofit organization that rescues excess produce from the Arizona-Mexico border for distribution in metro Phoenix and Tucson.
MOM events in 2014 are scheduled 8-11 a.m., Jan. 4, Feb. 1, March 1, April 5, May 3 and June 7.
