The Loop Taste of Chicago is celebrating its fifth anniversary on Friday, April 20, with music from one of Europe’s top piano entertainers, Mr. Boogie Woogie.

Marcie Rusin and her husband Mark are the founding owners of the restaurant, where they pride themselves on their wide-range of fresh foods and family oriented environment.

“Our claim to fame is our pizza,” Marcie said. “We are a family restaurant, and we love children.  We have what’s called a Kiddy Korner where the children can play so the parents can talk with friends while they eat.”

On the other side of the restaurant is a bar where flat screen televisions play sports games that draw in an adult crowd.  Surrounding the bar are booths that allow underage young adults enjoy watching sports while they eat.

“We are called the Cheers Bar of Oro Valley,” Marcie said, while noting the booths surrounding the bar are often used for “Fathers and their sons to watch the games”.

Looking back at the last five years, Rusin is proud of her employees and the hard work that has kept the restaurant going.

One of the main contributors to The Loop staying in business is the private terrace that is encircled by clear windows and a view of the Pusch Ridge Mountains.

“I made the decision to offer the room free of charge,” Mark said. “I offer lots and lots and lots of parties where we serve them and take care of them.”

On Friday, April 20 The Loop will have their own party and celebration with music played by Eric-Jan Overbeek, better known as Mr. Boogie Woogie.

Mr. Boogie Woogie is a well-known pianist in Europe that has played and toured internationally for nearly 30 years.  He is a talented entertainer who plays the blues with a noticeable amount of energy.  It is through a friend of that The Loop is able to have Mr. Boogie Woogie entertain them.

“We went over with some friends and heard him play,” Mark said. “He has so much energy and his charisma is unbelievable.  He is reminiscent of an Elton John, but heavier on the piano.”

The evening will start at 6 p.m. with what they call a “bountiful to visit buffet with a lot of high quality food” that will last until 7:20 p.m.  A chocolate mousse cake will follow the buffet.

Mr. Boogie Woogie and his band will entertain the guests with live blues music at 11 p.m. A dance floor will also be available.
