Musings on Mr. Rupkalvis

In Mr. Rupkalvis’ final edition, I had to wonder if he failed to grasp the irony of featuring an article on voting by Town Clerk Julie Bower, the Town’s obstructionist of the citizens’ referendum process.

Lie argument continues
Posted: March 29, 2016

On March 9, 2016 edition of the Explorer I asked Don Cox to give factual evidence for his opinion that “patently false lies” occurred during the recall election. In the March 16, 2016 edition of the Explorer, he offered one example. There was a sign with a header that stated “Ruined Scenic Views.”  The concern for “Ruined Scenic Views” was conveyed by hundreds of individuals who signed the recall petitions. The reference was to the Oracle Road Scenic Corridor, and the belief that the new apartment complexes along this corridor had ruined scenic views. Just because this opinion may not be supported by Mr. Cox and others does not make it a lie. Perhaps the placement of the sign along Tangerine Road wasn’t the ideal location, but the State of Arizona’s laws prevent placement of political signs along Oracle Road.  The location of a sign does not make its content a lie.

Running a restaurant?

On June 29, Oro Valley held the first open house, “Meet the Architect,” to meet the architectural firm chosen to assist the town with remodeling the Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center. It was also the first opportunity to offer input into this process. This meeting focused on the three main areas of initial renovation: ADA access and compliance, remodeling the fitness lobby and remodeling the restaurant.
