Catalina Foothills opened the 2014 football season with an easy 63-0 win over Desert View on Friday night.

Seven different Falcons scored, including three by running back Ian Turner.

Foothills scored three times in the first quarter and essentially ended the game. Sophomores Rhett Rodriguez and Max Michalczik connected on a 28-yard touchdown then Turner had runs of 20 and nine yards to put the Falcons up 21-0.

Turner scored his third touchdown early in the second quarter, breaking off an 82-yard run.

Turner ran eight times for 124-yards, while Connor Kobylinski rushed for 66 yards and a second half score.

Rodriguez added a four-yard run and Bryon Beckon ran back an interception to close out the first half scoring.

Rodriguez was an efficient 7-11 for 107 yards through the air. \

NOTES

*Due to a University of Arizona football game at the same time, Foothills had requested the game be moved to Thursday, but Desert View chose to keep the game on Friday.

*Rodriguez and Michalczik are the sons of Wildcat coaches Rich Rodriguez and Jim Michalczik.

*The younger Rodriguez was still able to take in much of the Arizona/UNLV game and accompanied his father to the post game press conference.

Dear Brad Allis:

Do you really think those of us who read your great articles-and I mean that-I enjoy them-really want to hear all this nonsense in your notes about the U of A kids on Foothills team? First of all I don't believe that was requested but the end note about little Johnny got to go to daddys game and press conference is utter junk that none of us care about-seriously-Please stay away from pleasing those who may like them mentioned and just do the great job you have been doing-no catering to that nonsense because it has ZERO to do with that game-
