Ironwood Ridge vs Canyon Del Oro Softball

The Ironwood Ridge softball teams continued to show why they have one of the top teams in the state with a 9-2 win over No. 8 ranked Sabino.

The Nighthawks jumped on the host Sabercats early, scoring vie runs in the first inning. The Sabercats added a run in the bottom half of the inning, but did not score again until the seventh.

It stayed 5-0 until the fourth, when the Nighthawks added three more and they closed out the scoring with a run in the sixth.

Sabino actually outhit the Nighthawls 10-9, but they committed six costly errors. Of those nine hits, five were of the extra base variety. Robyn Porter hit a home run and a double, while Skyler Bracety added her own round tripper. Reyna Bondi had a pair of doubles.

Emily Robinson got the win, outdueling Sabino’s ace Ashlee Skillings.
