The Mountain View softball team knew coming into this week that they needed to win their final two games of the season if they wanted to finish the season with a winning record. After a 5-1 win over Buena they are halfway there.

The Mountain Lions used one big inning to earn the win, scoring all five runs in the fifth inning and answering the lone Colts run in the top half of the inning.

The bulk of the stats were eerily similar. Both teams had five hits and committed four errors, but it was the Mountain Lions who had more timely hitting.

Kailey Mellen got the win and had the lone extra base hit of the contest, a key double for the Mountain Lions.

The win improves Mountain View to 12-12 on the season and 8-9 in regular season games and they have won four of their last five games. They close out the 2014 season with a Tuesday afternoon road game against Flowing Wells.
