Both the Catalina Foothills and the Canyon Del Oro baseball teams were eliminated from the Division II state baseball playoffs on Tuesday. Both the Dorados and the Falcons lost slugfests to teams from outside the Tucson area.
The Dorados fell to Buckeye Verrado 12-11, rallying from a 10-run deficit to tie the game, only to fall in the seventh inning.
The Dorados struck first, getting a run in the first, but Verrado stormed back with six in the first, one each in the second and third, and finally scored three more in the fourth to go up 11-1.
CDO Scored seven in the fifth then tied the game up when they scored three more in the top of the seventh.
Tristan Peterson hit a pair of home runs in a losing effort.
Catalina Foothills lost 15-5 to Bradshaw Mountain from the Prescott Valley area. The Falcons went up 1-0 after the first half inning, but gave up a run in the first and five more in the second. The Falcons came back with a four-run third to cut it to 6-5, but Bradshaw Mountain scored to in the bottom half of the inning. They added three more in the fourth and five in fifth, invoking the 10-run rule.
Both teams were eliminated from the playoffs with their loss.
