The Marana softball team continued their winning ways with a 6-1 win over Salpointe on Tuesday. The Tigers have now won five straight and are 12-2 in regular season games that count towards the playoffs.

The game was a real pitchers’ duel for the first four innings. The Tigers’ Casey Cadenhead and the Lancers’ Briana Aguilar-Beaucage were ahead of hitters, keeping the runs off the board.

The Lancers got their lone run in the fourth and then the Tiger bats came alive over the next two innings. The Tigers scored two in the fifth and added four more in the sixth to take and extend the lead.

After giving up the lone run in the fourth, Cadenhead shut out the Lancers over the next three innings. She also had one of the three Marana doubles, joining Diondra Bodman and Maddie Vieux in belting two-baggers.

The Tigers host Sabino on Thursday and head to Nogales on Friday.
