More than 40 vendors are gathering in the north parking lot of Oro Valley Hospital this Saturday, Oct. 23, for the Fall Healthy Expo, presented by Healthiest Town in America.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is free, and the public is welcome.
At the Fall Healthy Expo, people can participate in hands-on activities such as Pilates, stretching, yoga, cardiovascular activity and strength building. There'll be screenings for spinal health, blood pressure and cancers, Wii Fit access, orthodontics, diabetes education, body mass index determinations, massage, exercise balls, acupuncture and much more.
Several veterinary services are offering healthy dog tips.
"There is no other interactive healthy event like this, and it's free to attend," a release said.
Healthiest Town in America is an initiative "that challenges you, your family and your community to take vital small steps and make small changes to a healthier way of life," the release said.
America on the Move and Activate Tucson recruited Drs. Bob and Deb Oro of Oro Dental Medicine to launch Healthiest Town in America for all the communities in Northern Pima County.
Its goal is to offer simple steps to being more active and creating a healthier lifestyle. To get involved, people are asked to wear a pedometer, track their daily results by logging into a free personal account, and pledge to not gain any weight for one full year.
Members of the Healthiest Town in America committee are Dr. Bob Oro, acting chair; executive committee members Dr. Mahesh Tipirneni, Dr. Jeffrey Monash, Ron Kelley and Judi Butcher; and members Angie Kolling, Dr. Chris Ram, Robert Carmona, Dr. Sarah Lee, Doug Adelberg, Joe Mickelson and Ramon Gaanderse.
