An east side restaurant, The Abbey, plans to re-open for dinner service today at 4 p.m. according to a post on its Facebook page.
The post reads, "After an unexpected interruption to our regular service, we are thrilled to announce that we are open today as of 4 p.m. for regular hours."
According to a local news report, Ventura-Pacific Development, a construction company that did renovations for the restaurant, locked the doors and seized the lease and contents at The Abbey on May 8.
Ventura-Pacific Development had gone two months without receiving a payment on a $30,000 construction bill from Brian Metzger's company, Abbygrace LLC., which owns The Abbey.
Metzger filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday after learning of the construction company's actions in an attempt to reorganize and understand his debt situation.
"Due to a bookkeeping issue that resulted in delay of payment to one of The Abbey's vendors, the vendor has decided to pursue legal actions that have, at least temporarily, forced The Abbey to suspend service effective today [May 8]," The Abbey Tucson said in another Facebook post.
