Mobile home lost in trash fire by TIA
Rural Metro Fire

On April 22 Rural/Metro Fire Department responded to a large trash fire around 5 p.m. in the 1600 block East McKain Road. Upon arrival the crew found a fire that was rapidly spreading from the yard into the vacant mobile home.

In the photographs the fire started in the pile of combustible items and spread to the home, fortunately there were no injuries to report, and damage to the home was limited because fire fighters took quick action.

As the community approaches the wild fire season, this fire provides an educational opportunity. Ensuring your property has a defensible space of 30 feet around the structure will help fire fighters protect your home. Clearing this space will keep fires of any nature from spreading from a yard to a structure or from home to home.
