Pima County Sheriff's Department

On Saturday, July 19 around 6:40 p.m. the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a collision involving a 5-year-old girl on the 2100 block of East Orange Grove Road.

Upon arrival, deputies learned the collision occurred when the 5-year-old and her 7-year-old brother were crossing Orange Grove Road.

The young girl was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, hospital officials announced she died from her injuries.

While the incident is under investigation, police officials say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
