On Aug. 21 The Oro Valley Police Department was contacted by Tucson Police Department in reference to a bank robbery suspect in their jurisdiction. TPD believed the suspect in custody was the same suspect in Oro Valley’s Aug. 12 bank robbery. 

Detectives with the OVPD Criminal Investigations Unit responded to TPD’s incident and discovered that the man, Patrice Gomis, a 23-year-old African-American male, obtained a credit card fraudulently and used it throughout the community.

Search warrants were obtained for Gomis’ vehicle and residence and evidentiary items were discoverd connecting Gomis to the bank robbery and thefraud that occurred in Oro Valley.

Gomis was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on Oro Valley charges for Armed Robbery, Fraud and Forgery. 


Around 5:18 p.m. on Aug. 12, the Oro Valley Police Department was dispatched to a robbery at the Wells Fargo bank located at the intersection of Oracle and First Avenue.

A tall African-American male sporting a black long sleeve sweatshirt with a Bob Marley logo and dark gloves walked in to the bank with a fake beard disguise and demanded that the teller hand over the money.

The man did not display a weapon but implied that he had one, according to Oro Valley Police Department spokesperson Kara Riley.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money, he then fled in a southwestern direction on foot towards the nearby Target store.
