Oro Valley

On Saturday, Feb. 15, at about 6:12 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to the Walmart at 2150 E. Tangerine Road in response to a shoplifting taking place. They met with a man who was seen opening a package of Crest teeth whitening strips and taking the strips out and putting them in his pocket. Police later found them in his wallet. The 62-year-old man was cited for shoplifting. The strips were valued at $39.97.


On Saturday, Feb. 15, at about 10:53 a.m., Oro Valley police responded to a report of a man down at El Conquistador Way and Oracle Road. A man had come across a truck in the left turn bay with its door open and a man lying with his feet out the door. Once he was woken up and checked by medics, the man admitted to drinking two 32-ounce cans of beer in the morning before heading to work. He failed field sobriety tests and police found a mug with beer in it in his car. He was arrested for DUI to the slightest degree, DUI with a BAC over .08, and having an open container in his car. After a blood draw, he was picked up by his friend from the police station. 


On Saturday, Feb. 15, at about 1:24 a.m., Oro Valley police responded to the Circle K at 8780 N. Oracle Road in response to a call about a van that had been parked at the pumps for more than 40 minutes. When police arrived, they found the van, which was not running, and a woman asleep behind the wheel. When she slowly woke up, she told police that she drank alcohol earlier in the night. Police found an open can of Four Loko Lemonade in the car, along with two unopened cans of beer. Police searched her, her purse and car but didn’t find any contraband. She agreed to blow into a Breathalyzer and gave a reading of .065. She called for a ride and was cited for having an open container in a car.


On Tuesday, Feb. 11, at about 7:20 p.m., Oro Valley police met with a woman who was reporting a domestic violence issue. The woman said her husband had slapped her in the face after a dispute about how to properly change their kid’s diaper. The husband was later arrested for domestic violence/ assault, served an order of protection, and booked into the Pima County Jail.


On Tuesday, Feb. 11, at about 6:42 p.m., Oro Valley police responded to a report of domestic violence near Moore Road and La Cañada Drive. The caller told police that her parents were fighting. When police arrived, they heard and argument going on inside. They learned that the two had argued, wrestled and a shirt had been torn. Both were arrested for domestic violence/ disorderly conduct. The husband was cited and released. The wife was transported to the Pima County Jail.
