Jim Click has long been known as one of Tucson’s leading businessmen. It’s rare to drive through Tucson without encountering one of his numerous car dealerships, which are not only well renowned by the Better Business Bureau, but also highly spoken of by employees and car buyers as a place to work or shop.

But beyond his success in the automobile industry, Click has become well known in another area of his life- his involvement with community organizations and charities.

In a recent public appearance, Click humbly said, “There is no way the Click family can ever repay Tucson Arizona for what it has done for us. It is an honor for us to be able to give back.”

Still, one might argue that Click and his family have done more than enough for this community, particularly after taking a glance at Click’s website, which reveals an extensive list of the organizations Click is a member of or sponsor to.

From children’s needs groups, to the health field, to veterans care, to animal shelters, there seems to be no demographic untouched by the generous hands of Jim Click.

Over the years, one of Click’s most consistent community focuses has been on aiding individuals with disabilities, and it has been that focus which earned him the Legacy of Love Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1975, he was one of the first employers to offer a workstation for people with disabilities through the Beacon Foundation, and as of today, Click employs almost 70 disabled individuals at his dealerships.

Earlier this year, Click was one to speak at the Reid Park Zoo for the unveiling of Expedition Tanzania’s five new elephants. Click was awarded a plaque for his financial contributions to the Expedition’s Conservation Learning Center, receiving recognition by Tucson Mayor Jonathon Rothschild and Reid Park staff.

More recently, Click gave away an all-electric 2012 Nissan Leaf in a raffle event responsible for raising almost $500,000 between 210 Southern Arizona charities.

In the annual event, Click said he hopes to raise a million dollars next year.

Leading to this year, Click was also recognized for donating $50,000 to the Fund for Civility, Respect, and Understanding. The organization, dedicated to preventing bullying in school and raising mental health awareness, was founded by Ron Barber, one of the victims injured in the Jan. 8 mass shooting that took six lives.

In line with his aspirations to help the underprivileged, Click has been continuously involved with United Way of Tucson, and raised $162,000 in the 2010-2011 year with the help of his employees.
