One killed, two critically injured in morning accident on I-10 near Marana

Just before 1 a.m., Northwest Fire District units responses to I-10 eastbound just east of the Marana exit for an passenger vehicle that was traveling west bound and rolled over into eastbound lanes of traffic and then was struck by an eastbound semi truck (Albertsons delivery). 

There were three male occupants in the passenger vehicle.  One is pronounced dead at scene, the remaining two suffer critical life-threatening injuries.

Northwest firefighters used the Jaws-of-Life to free one if the patients who was trapped in the car.

Both viable patients were transported to the trauma center at UAMC.  One was flown by helicopter and one by ground ambulance.  The truck driver was not injured in the incident.

I-10 was closed eastbound at the Marana exit and was expected to be closed for clean-up and investigations for 4-5 hours.

DPS is the LE agency conducting the investigation.

Northwest Fire reminds everyone to always wear a seatbelt when in a moving vehicle.
