Tips to save your skin and your health

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends these easy options for protecting yourself from harmful sun:

Stay in the shade, especially during midday hours.

Wear long sleeves and pants.

Wear a wide-brimmed hat that shades your face, head, ears, and neck.

Choose sunglasses that wrap around the sides of your eyes, and that block both UVA and UVB rays.

Apply sunscreen with a sun protective factor (SPF) of 15 or higher, and both UVA and UVB protection. (Often called “broad spectrum” on labeling.)

Avoid indoor tanning.
