According to the Press Release -  CC Goldwater, granddaughter of five-term United States Senator Barry Goldwater, has endorsed Nancy Young Wright for Pima County Supervisor in District One. Barry Goldwater’s 1964 presidential candidacy launched a revolution within the Republican Party.

“My grandfather was known for his willingness to work across the aisle to get things done for Arizona,” said Ms. Goldwater. “He cared deeply about the people, the resources, and the natural lands in Arizona. I’m endorsing Nancy because she has a proven ability to work with people of all backgrounds to help her constituents. Like my grandfather, she is willing to roll up her sleeves, reach across the aisle and get the important work done that Pima County needs. People are growing weary of partisan bickering.”

Ms. Goldwater noted that although Senator Goldwater and Representative Morris Udall were of opposite parties, they worked together to achieve legislation for the Central Arizona Project, among others. Ms. Goldwater has produced a documentary on her grandfather’s life titled Mr. Conservative: Goldwater on Goldwater where the esteemed senator predicted that the Republican Party would become dominated by religious and social influences.

Young Wright served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2008-2010, where she served on the Water and Energy, Education, and Health Committees. As an Amphitheater School Board member, she led successful efforts to lower administrative overhead, raise teacher pay, and lower class sizes. She led the board in implementing new and transparent policies to guide the district’s future land use purchases that included appraisals, engineering, and environmental studies. She served on Pima County’s Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan Steering Committee and was Chair of Oro Valley’s first Parks, Trails, and Open Space Board.

“I’m honored to receive CC Goldwater’s endorsement,” said Young Wright. “One of my earliest memories was of my mother volunteering on Senator Goldwater’s campaign for President.”
