Wings, for those in need
Terry Ketron/Special to The Explorer, Angel Flight volunteer pilot Dr. Kenneth Reed guides 9-year-old Erika Sanchez aboard his personal airplane. Erika, whose leg is in a full length cast, uses a walker. With a little direction, she was able to sit on the wing and negotiate the climb into the cabin of the turbocharged Mooney airplane. Reed flew to Chandler from his base in Marana to pick up Erika and her mother, Josefina Rodriguez, to fly them on the first leg of their journey to Shriner’s Hospital in Santa Monica.
