Tohono Chul Park holds its first Monsoon Madness Plant Sale, featuring local plant vendors in the shade of the park's ramadas, on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13 and 14.
Most Southwest growers have a specialty, according to a release from the park. Greg Starr of Starr Nursery is known for his Mexican agaves. Plants of the Southwest sells living stones. Torque Ranch gets very excited about its specialty herbs. Dave Palzkill glows in the pinks and reds of his adeniums.
"Meet these vendors and many more as you peruse an impressive assortment of bizarre, edible, showy and trickster cacti, shrubs, wildflowers, trees, herbs, vines and groundcovers," the release said.
Admission to the park is free during the sale, which runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14.
The park is located one stoplight west of the intersection of Oracle and Ina roads.
